The dark theme for the YouTube app appeared for iOS users back in March of this year. Now, Google officially launches an update for owners of Android-smartphones.
Rumors of a new regime have been on the net for the past three months. First, Google announced the “Dark Mode” for YouTube in July, but over the past two months, nothing has been heard about the update. However, the new version is still available and everyone can download it from the official Google Play store.
First of all, the dark mode is intended for use at night, but nobody forbids users to use it during the day. Note that for owners of smartphones with AMOLED-displays, the dark mode can significantly reduce battery consumption.
How to activate dark mode on Android-smartphone?
First, make sure that you have the latest YouTube update, at the moment it’s version 13.35.51 or higher. To do this, just go to the video hosting page in the Google Play store and click Update.
- Open the app
- Click on the image of your profile in the upper right corner
- Click “Settings”, then “General” and select “Night mode”
Done, after that the application will change the main colours to dark ones.
