At the IFA 2018, Sony introduced the flagship wireless headphones. The WH-1000XM3 model received a QN1 noise-cancelling HD processor with 32-bit signal processing.
These headphones have large 40 mm dome-type loudspeakers. Their diaphragm is made of LC polymer film.
The QN1 processor works in conjunction with a high-quality DAC and amplifier, in its own way ” colouring” the sound.
Active noise cancellation is one of the main features of the 1000X series. Thanks to the new processor, headphones can adjust its level in different conditions with an eye for atmospheric pressure. Therefore, the smadav will work differently on the street, in the subway or plane, knowing what exactly he needs to suppress. For example, a particularly intrusive human voice.
Thanks to the Adaptive Sound Control technology, the noise can be adjusted in several profiles. It can completely cut off sounds or not work at full strength if you still need to contact the outside world.
The headphones support LDAC – the proprietary “Soneva” technology of Bluetooth audio transmission. In this case, the headphones reproduce frequencies from 20 Hz to 40 kHz. You can ask why this is needed because the human ear hears frequencies up to 20 kHz, but in fact, it is not: at uncirculated frequencies, we perceive the “top” of the song more fully and brighter. For the benefit of lossless, the support of the sampling frequency up to 96 kHz with bitrate up to 990 kbit / s also works here.
If the gadget that works in conjunction with the Sony WH-1000XM3 does not support LDAC, the headphones will transmit lossless sound thanks to the aptX or aptX HD codecs. In this case, the sampling rate will be limited to the standard 44.1 kHz, and the reproducible top will be cut to 20 kHz.
All headphone settings can be made in the application Sony Headphones Connect. It is there that the level of noise reduction is chosen, the equalizer is tuned, etc.
On the right earpiece, there is a touch panel. Touching it, you can increase or decrease the volume, stop the song or switch to the next one. And with the help of Quick Attention Mode you can instantly mute the sound, so that, for example, without removing the headphones, order a drink on the plane.
Wireless headphones are powered by a rechargeable battery – here I will not open America to anyone. Ten minutes of charging the WH-1000XM3 will give five hours of music playback. However, a full cycle should be spent three hours. In this case, the headphones from one charge will operate for 38 hours without noise reduction and about 30 hours with it.
Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones will be delivered to retail in October. The price has not yet been named.
