Pixel 2 XL became the slowest smartphone on Android: The fact that Android can eventually start to work slower, no one is surprised. But usually this problem is not critical, and the smartphone can be used without damage to the nervous system. But in the case of Pixel 2 XL, it turned out not to be so.
For some users, the flagship from Google began to seriously hamper: lag animation and long-open applications. For example, Marcus Brownlee videotaped this problem – he showed that any smartphone on Android works faster than Pixel 2 XL.
And journalist Artem Rusakovsky demonstrated the problem with launching the camera. He sat and waited almost 10 seconds.
Here's just one example of what I described as "devastatingly and embarrassingly laggy" on my Pixel 2 XL.

This is just one example of how terribly lagging my Pixel 2 XL.
And this happens all the time, not just the camera. Examples from MKBHD (Marcus Brownlee) are still flowers compared to the shit that I have to endure.
You just want to break the phone when the camera starts 10 seconds, the transition to the video takes another 10 seconds and the shooting goes with wild lags.
Android Police Founder
Since Artem is very famous, representatives from Google came to his home: an engineer and a PR manager.
The Google engineer and PR manager just left after spending 2 hours analyzing the lag in Pixel 2 XL.
Unlike the car, which stops producing strange sounds after the intervention of the mechanic, the phone was so lazy that they [2 people from Google] themselves were in shock.
Later Artem received a letter from Google with explanations. The same press release was sent to other media, which turned to the company for comments. Here, for example, that published Phone Arena :
We have a team that monitors the performance of our devices. Their data show that this is an unresolved problem. Receiving error messages is a common part of the workflow, as it is for most consumer devices. We use them to understand what is working wrong and try to solve the problem. We are still dealing with this case, and it is too early to draw conclusions.
Google Press Release about Pixel 2 XL
Anonymous sources say that Google has already found 3 solutions to the problem. One of them is a free phone replacement, and the rest is not known yet.
Not only bloggers came under the distribution. Reddit users have been discussing this for almost 2 weeks, and Google has not done anything yet, except for sending this press release to various media.
What will end this story is unclear. But if Google does not want to lose money, then it will have to go through a bunch of lines of code to find its mistakes and release an update (if it’s not a hardware problem at all).
