To buy something on the Internet, people first google, find a store and then look what they need. Instagram decided to get into this algorithm and replace themselves with search engines using special trade tags.
What will add?
Instagram will make a new kind of tags. It is similar to the mark of people in the photos; only the links will be sent to online stores. Clicked on the image, saw the price of the goods, and directly in the application, you can see its description. If this is what you were looking for – go to the store and buy it. Photos with trade tags can be saved in your profile to return to them later.
This feature will work in photos, videos and sliders with selections. While trading tags are tested only in the US in the application for iOS. The program now involves 20 trading companies. After the testing is complete, the tags will be released outside of America. The Commission does not plan to take an additional commission for the use of the new function.
Benefits for people
Obviously, from Instagram, a regular online store will never be able to do because social networking is not at all intended for this. But the idea of the developers is quite interesting. When tags become available outside the US, all manufacturers will instantly get different hashtags – if you need sneakers, then look for “#shoes_sale” and Instagram will show results with links to stores. It turns out, like, cool.
Thanks to trade tags, users will potentially be able to search for products faster. Store aggregators of the type “Yandeks.Market” Instagram, of course, cannot win, but people will have a new way of searching.
Benefits for shops
The shops themselves will have a new advertising platform. And completely free. Most likely, you are already subscribed to brands, but inserting a link to the purchase page in the post is unrealistic: the text field of the social network is not suitable for this. Instagram solved this problem for sellers.
Another obvious thing – advertising content. Since Instagram does not plan to take a commission for transfers, it will become very convenient. The advertiser will pay only to the blogger himself, without deducting extra money from the social network – something like this works now, but because of the format of the text field in Instagram it’s impossible to send users to the store normally. Of course, they go out with a link to the manufacturer’s account through “@”, but in the end, the person does not always reach the “Pay” button.
Benefits for Facebook
It’s unclear how Facebook will earn on the links. These are regular referrals, and advertisers will soon start to get good money with Instagram. I will never believe in my life that Facebook will not take its share from the profit of sellers for advertising on its own site. Perhaps, at first, they will really do without a commission, but in the future, this is likely to change.
