The new file system Apple File System has improved security and sped up data handling both in iOS and in macOS. True, APFS is not yet perfected – for example, owners of Mac computers with hybrid drives Fusion Drive still cannot take full advantage of the new file system. But soon this problem will be solved.
According to the publication MacRumors, one of the users wrote a letter to Apple, in which he asked if the company would add support for APFS for Fusion Drive. His question was answered by Craig Federigi, senior vice president of software development.
Hey, Jonathan.
We intend to resolve this issue soon.
Thank you, Craig.
Most likely, the compatibility of APFS with hybrid drives will be added already in macOS 10.14, since the beta version 10.13.5 does not have this capability.
Recall that for the first time Apple File System was presented at a conference of developers WWDC in 2016. The new file system has improved security and speed compared to HFS +.
