DJI is an amazing company. For the past year, its products have competed only with its own products. But even in this situation, the company manages to find a place for new drones. DJI Mavic Air is presented January 23 in New York, and its sales will begin on January 28. This drone has taken a very advantageous position in the market due to its price and for several reasons will remain there for a very long time.
Mavic Air is the golden mean in the DJI lineup of drones worth up to $ 1000. Now in this price range, there are 3 drones: DJI Spark for 399 dollars (the price dropped from 499 dollars), DJI Mavic Pro for 999 dollars and now DJI Mavic Air at a price of 799 dollars. Such a price policy covers a huge audience of potential buyers, and Mavic Air closes it by people who do not consider serious Spark but also are not ready to pay for Mavic Pro. At the same time for their money, Mavic Air offers a set of fairly advanced features.
Specifications DJI Mavic Air
Mavic Air is technically not much inferior to the Pro version, but it is 41% lighter than Pro. The compactness of the Air is excellent: when folded, it will fit comfortably into the backpack and even into the pocket of the jacket. Taking into account the size of DJI, the cooling system of the drone was updated to minimize the risk of overheating as much as possible. Moreover, the size of Mavic Air had virtually no effect on wind resistance. The drone can keep in the air with gusts of wind up to 30 km / h. Air is also equipped with an anti-collision system consisting of 7 cameras and updated software. The latter now does not just stop the drone in front of the obstacle but adjusts its path in such a way that the drone flies around this obstacle. Other main characteristics draw before us the following picture:
- The top speed is 68 km / h
- The flight time from one charge is 21 minutes
- Range controller 4 km
- 3-axis stabilizer for the camera
- 1/23 “CMOS sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels
- Shooting photos with a resolution of 4056 × 3040 pixels, support for HDR
- Shooting video: 4K / 30fps, 2.7K / 60fps, FHD / 120fps
The only thing that has not undergone revolutionary changes – the time of the drone. But here Mavic Air personifies the golden mean, because it lasts 5 minutes longer than Spark, but 6 minutes less than Mavic Pro.
DJI Mavic Air took the place of the unsuccessful drone GoPro Karma, which cost as well as Air now. Largely due to the success of DJI in the North American market, GoPro did not develop with its own drones, after which the company generally withdrew from the market of quadrocopters. But for DJI, this victory is only a won “battle”, and we are more than sure that the company’s arsenal still has ideas that will ensure its victory in the “war”.
