In the settings you can enable the option for the svaypa down to open notifications, or hold your finger up to open the Samsung Pay. Naturally, gestures stop working when you actively scan your fingerprint.
Drag the side menu.
Galaxy S9 is Samsung’s first phone, allowing you to drag a side menu, a shortcut bar for applications and contacts on the left or right. In previous phones, you had to choose its position in the settings.[hide] 16 hidden functions samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + Plus [/hide]
Change the style of the watch.
Open “Clock Style” in “Settings> Screen Lock” to change the colors and style of the Galaxy S9 watch by default. You can choose different colors and styles for the Always On screen and the lock screen.
Swipe down to answer from the notification.
When you are in an application, for example, reading an article or viewing maps, you can answer SMS without leaving the current screen. Just swipe your finger across the incoming message to expand the window. After you answer, you need to close this window. The edge of the phone lights up to gently warn you about the incoming message, which is really cool.
The home screen supports landscape orientation.
[hide] 16 hidden functions samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + Plus [/hide]You watch a video or play a game, and you need to go to the main screen. Now that you do this, you have the opportunity to see the icons of your home page and applications in horizontal mode.
To enable it: Settings → Display → Home screen → Portrait only mode → Off.
This option also applies to the application tray.
[hide] 16 hidden functions samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + Plus [/hide]This function is somewhat hidden, but it will be used more often than other tricks, such as avatars in the form of AR-emoji (emoji of augmented reality). Galaxy S9 uses software to blur the background on your own portraits, so your face really stands out. You can also adjust the shade and colour of the skin.
To use it: open the camera → select Selfy Focus.
Change the screen resolution.
The maximum screen resolution of S9 and S9 + is 2960×1440 pixels (this resolution is known as WQHD +), but did you know that by default the phone has 2220×1080 pixels (FHD +)? A more conservative setting saves battery power, but for maximum detail, you can reconfigure the resolution or even reduce to 1480×720 pixels (HD +).
Go to Settings → Display → Screen resolution.
A double messenger.
If you have two accounts in one social networking application, you will now be able to download the second instance of this application so you can easily switch from one to the other without changing your profile in the application. It works with Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Skype, Viber and Telegram
Settings → Advanced Features → Dual Messenger.[hide] 16 hidden functions Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + Plus [/hide]
If you find that the screen reacts poorly to touching through the protective film, you can increase the sensitivity of the screen.
Settings → Advanced Functions → Touch Sensitivity.
Check your blood pressure.
Galaxy phones had a heart rate monitor still with the Galaxy S5. S9 adds blood pressure readings. They call this the “heart factor”. It is a function of well-being that gives an idea of your blood pressure, but Samsung does not recommend using it for medical purposes. You still need to consult a doctor to get your condition monitored.
In addition, Samsung is working with the UCSF to share information on blood pressure and monitor the levels of stress of users and gives recommendations for lowering blood pressure.
Applications folder Samsung → Samsung Health → press “HLF”.
Switch Dolby Atmos.
The Dolby Atmos codec provides 360 degrees of sound. By default it is disabled, but you can turn it on to get a more saturated sound. [hide] 16 hidden functions samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + Plus [/hide]
To switch it, open the quick settings. This is a new feature and a new option for S9.
You can also press and hold to toggle between options such as automatic settings based on what you are watching, movie, music or voice.
Hidden functions that are transferred from Galaxy S8 and Note 8.
There are a few tricks that are not new to S9 or S9 +, but if you switch from a phone that precedes the Galaxy S8 or any other brand, they may be new to you.
The second lens of the Galaxy S9 (telephoto) camera makes portrait mode possible – Samsung calls it “Live Focus”. What sets it apart from other phones is that the S9 (and Note 8 before it) will save both the portrait itself and the full fuzzy picture with the background. You will have the opportunity to use both of them. [hide] 16 hidden functions samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + Plus [/hide]
Camera → select “Live focus” → check both checkboxes.
Floating button shutter.
Did you have such that you had to pull your hand until you reached the camera shutter release button? Now you can drag it anywhere on the screen.
Portrait mode for gourmets.
You can gently blur the background of food shots with a tool called radial blur. The food photography mode existed on previous Galaxy phones, but it’s much easier to find on the S9. You can also adjust the hue to make the pictures warmer or cooler.
Camera → Food mode → Click on the icon that looks like a drop.
Swipe across the screen to switch between camera modes.
A quick way to switch between your current camera mode and the previous one is to scroll up or down the screen in the camera application. You can not switch between the front and rear cameras; but only between modes only in the front or rear chambers.[hide] 16 hidden functions samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + Plus [/hide]
Double-tap the point on the navigation bar to hide it. You can also enter “Settings → Display → Navigation”.
Change the color of the navigation bar.
To adjust the color of the navigation bar to light green, pink, purple and so on, go to “Settings.” In fact, this is not so important, and I prefer the brighter color options for the Galaxy S8.
“Settings → Display → Navigation”
Samsung Pass can offer to remember and automatically fill certain fields in applications. This is similar to the autocomplete feature built into the Android 8.0 Oreo OS, and you can even switch to using Oreo autofill.
